Chaplains for Women & Children’s Services

The loss of a child is one of the most difficult things parents face. No matter what stage of pregnancy you were in — pregnancy, delivery or the first weeks and months after delivery — the death of your baby has changed your life forever.

Northeast Georgia Health System offers our deepest sympathy to you during this difficult time. There are no words to ease your pain and grief. We can, however, provide you and your family with support and resources throughout your journey.

We have partnered with Rachel’s Gift to assist in honoring your baby’s life with keepsakes which allow memories to be created.

“When a baby is born, it’s a mother’s instinct to protect her baby. When a baby dies, it’s a mother’s instinct to protect their memory.”

We also provide the following:

  • Annual Memorial Services
Each October, during Perinatal Loss Month, Women & Children’s Services and Spiritual Care Services host a Memorial Service for families who have experienced the loss of an infant. Should you choose to participate, your child will be recognized, by name, during the service.
  • Dedicated Women & Children’s Services chaplains
This team is available to provide grief support 24/7. Feel free to contact our chaplaincy hotline at 770-219-1873 and ask for Karen or Mandy.
  • Support Groups
This group meets monthly and is for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or even weeks or months following delivery. Contact Mandy for details at 770-490-9921.
  • Private Memorial Services and Celebration of Life Services
If at any time, you would like to do a special service to honor your baby, the Spiritual Care Services is willing to help you with resources, plans and/or conducting the service. Please call Karen at 770-219-5228.
