Get a Taste of Northeast Georgia
There's no better way to discover the local flavor of Northeast Georgia than to visit downtown Gainesville's charming Main Street community. The downtown square is filled with more than 20 restaurants, retail shops, boutiques and businesses.
Stroll through The Smithgall Woodland Garden, a 185-acre preserve in downtown Gainesville, and a satellite location for the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Once complete, it will feature walking trails, plants from Southeast Asia, a greenhouse, visitor's center, children's garden, pavilions and an amphitheater.
Follow Georgia's wine highway and take a day to sample some of the area's award-winning wines. North Georgia is home to more than 200 acres of vineyards and a dozen wineries. Many of these facilities offer wine events, brunches and dinners. Chateau Elan Winery, Frogtown Cellars, Blackstock Vineyards and Winery, Three Sisters Vineyards and more welcome you on your tours.
